I remember some of my first instructors who helped me along the way. If there was ANY daylight between the weavers, they encouraged me to get them packed down.
Good tools make a big difference. I don't expect anyone to jump right out and invest in all sort of tools, but a good packing tool is mighty helpful. I try to have one for each of my students or at least every two students in a larger class of beginners that I teach.
